What do you get when you combine one person’s obsession for travel, Thai cuisine and cooking? Delicious Thai fare served with real Thai hospitality, of course!
Even as Tan Ying Ying worked as an auditor for a number of years, she always dreamed of one day opening up her own café. Finally surrendering to her passion for everything Thai, the future chef and manager of Tuk Tuk gave up her career crunching numbers to traverse the enigmatic streets of Thailand, seeking the secrets behind the rich, aromatic flavours of genuine Thai fare.
And if learning about fresh Siamese ingredients and traditional preparation rituals while on her trails weren’t enough, Ying Ying furthered her expertise in the fundamentals of Thai cooking by enrolling in a traditional cooking class while in Thailand.
Back in Malaysia, she could hardly wait to bring her dreams to fruition and set to work crafting the eatery she had always envisioned. And in 2004, Tuk Tuk Café opened its delightful doors to the public.
